Clairwood bodybuilder wins first title

Sanjay’s win at the Playhouse is his first title win since making a comeback to the sport three years ago.

A CLAIRWOOD resident has shown his mettle in the bodybuilding arena to clinch his first body building title.
Sanjay Juggernath won the IFBBSA KZN provincials open division for under 85kg held at the Playhouse on Saturday, 16 August. Sanjay has been competing in bodybuilding competitions for 10 years. “I have a passion for bodybuilding. I enjoy the challenge and it takes your body to different levels,” said Sanjay.
In 2005, Sanjay entered the National Amateur Body building Association (NABBA) junior under 21 open division championship and placed second and in 2011 also placed second in the NABBA open division. Sanjay’s win at the Playhouse is his first title win since making a comeback to the sport three years ago.
Sanjay says being a body builder takes discipline. “Bodybuilders must give every day their best, don’t just walk into the gym and train,” said Sanjay. He says he wouldn’t be able to succeed in body building if it wasn’t for his family who help him follow a strict diet. “My mom is always there for me preparing my meals and she keeps be focused,” said Sanjay.
The 30-year-old has his sights set on the South African Body Building Championships where he will represent KZN from 10 to 13 September at Grand West Casion in Cape Town.
