THREE men who hijacked a woman of her Kia Picanto at the N2 Higginson Highway intersection on Monday, 21 July, were captured by Umlazi SAP on Thursday, 24 July.
The three assailants, one armed with a gun, dragged the woman out of her vehicle while she waited for the robot to turn green, before speeding off towards Chatsworth. Using a tracking mechanism on the motorist’s iPad, which was still in the car, the police tracked the car to Lamontville before it was lost.
Details of the vehicle were circulated. Umlazi SAP tracked and detained the men, after receiving a tip-off.
A section 36 charge has been filed by Umlazi SAP and Montclair SAP have charged the men with hijacking.
They are due to appear in Durban Magistrate”s Court on Monday, 28 July.
