VIDEO: Pretoria mall kidnapping video sparks fear

VIDEO footage of an attempted kidnapping at Zambezi Junction mall in Pretoria has raised alarms about the safety of children in public areas.

The footage starts off showing a woman and her two children, who were sitting in a trolley, at the till. The woman and her children move to another part of the shop. About a minute later, another woman walks out of the shop pushing the woman’s children still in the trolley. Realising what had happened, the mother chases after the woman and retrieves her children.
A case of child theft was opened with the police.

The alleged kidnappers, two women, were arrested the next day in the same centre for allegedly stealing a cellphone.
