Tavern stabbing murder accused arrested

Alleged murderer appeared in Durban Magistrate's Court.

AN alleged murderer was arrested by Montclair SAP at the tin houses in Gwala Street, Lamontville on Tuesday, 20 May.

The man is accused of stabbing to death a man at a tavern in South Coast Road, Mobeni on Saturday, 17 May. It is alleged he started a fight with the deceased and as the deceased  tried to walk away, he stabbed him in the abdomen and chest, disembowelling him.

He went into hiding and was subsequently arrested three days later in Gwala Street. The reason for the fight is unknown.

He made his first appearance in Durban Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 22 May, where his case was postponed for Friday, 30 May.
