Teen murdered in Wentworth

Two unknown assailants shot up a home and killed a 19-year-old.

WENTWORTH police are searching for the murderers of a teenager, who was killed in a shooting at a house on Thursday, 12 June.

The 19-year-old was watching TV in a home in Lubbe Road, along with a 20-year-old man, when at about 7pm, two unknown men entered and shot at them, before fleeing the area. Paramedics said the teenager died on the scene and the other man was transported to hospital in a serious condition, with gunshot wounds to the leg.

The motive for the shooting is unknown, as is the identity of the assailants, but police are investigating a case of murder and attempted murder. Wentworth SAP communications officer, Lieutenant M Gumede said police have stepped up patrols in the affected area. “We appeal to the residents to report any crime that is happening in their area. Confidentiality is guaranteed,” said Lt Gumede.
