Multi-talented Margaret displays some masterpieces

The raffles were won by Marie Brown and Sigrid White.

NORA Brown welcomed all to Bushlands Women’s Institute’s meeting on 5 June.

It was noted that with regret that Mac was not at all well, and members’ thoughts are with him and Kay.

She opened the meeting with the singing of ‘Unity’.

Guest speaker, Margaret was welcomed and displayed 10 of her magnificent framed works – the most outstanding of which was a cross-stitch framed picture of seven owls, which she advised had taken two years to complete. Other beautiful framed needlework was one of the signs of Zodiac, a Japanese woman, three different groups of poppies. Apart from the cross stitch, there were also a tapestry and picture done in ribbon embroidery. She is a truly inspirational speaker and motivator, although you have to be very talented to produce that calibre.

Not to be outdone, members of Bushlands WI also produced some exquisite entries in the merit section – Daphne du Plessis entered a lovely knitted gilet, which was awarded 95 points and a beautifully embroidered black bag made by Marlene Jones, for which she obtained 98 points. Nora Brown’s lovely knitted child’s jersey earned her 95 points. The WI has some truly talented members.

Competition results: Agi/horti: Nora Brown with 95 points; homecraft: N Brown 98, M Jones 96, Daphne du Plessis 78. Well done.

A most enjoyable meeting ended with the womens’s institute prayer.
