ERIC Redman has been re-elected as chairman of Durban Wanderers Club and will serve in this position for the fifth consecutive year.

The keen musician and DJ runs a tight ship at Durban Wanderers. “Being retired, the club keeps me occupied. I’m proud of the club and want to keep it going,” said Eric. He has also served as the club’s vice-chairman in his 10 year affiliation with Durban Wanderers.

Eric attributes his success as chairman to his dedicated team of staff and the club’s committee. “My wife, vice-chairman Mitty Chelin, managers Danny Nel and Shaun McAlister and committee are a tremendous help and the reason I’m able to carry out my duties,” said Eric.

He helps past pupils from the classes of 1953 to 1980 keep in touch by hosting a reunion every second year. “It started as a few drinks at the bar and the group just expanded,” said Eric.

Eric’s wife of 38-years, Patti who serves as Durban Wanderers Club secretary is full of praise for husband. “Eric manages the club very well, he’s good at what he does and is really helpful,” said Patti.

Besides being club chairman, Eric also enjoys a game of bowls and collects LP records. He is an avid Everton and Sharks supporter, and is a keen horse racing enthusiast.
