Gospel band releases debut single

IN His Presence Ministries’ band members of Montclair have released their debut single ‘By My Side’, which will also be the title track of their album.

The song is a hit on Highway Radio and was among the station’s top five tracks. The worship song, which has been described as ‘powerful’, was written and arranged by the band’s leader and vocalist, Shadrack Reddy.

“The song is very sentimental to me. The first two lines were written by my late brother whom we were planning to release a single with before he died,” said Shadrack. “The song is about God by our side through the good and bad times. Sometimes in our journey in life we feel like He is not there, but in His Word He says He will never leave us, nor forsake us. The song claims His presence in our lives and when we claim it, things start to happen.”

The seven band members, three of whom are still in high school, have received no formal musical training. Band members Shadrack Reddy, Cameron and Tyrone Naidoo, Bethany Maistry, Micayla and Wayne Maharaj are set to release their eight track album in two months. The video for the debut single is set to be aired on Dstv’s 1Gospel channel in two weeks.

Pastor Deon Maistry hopes the single will also encourage other youth groups. “A lot of people have potential but no-one to activate it. That is why we exist as a church,” said Pastor Maistry.

The single is available from Dayspring Bookshop, PNS Gift Shop in Bluff Towers and Deon’s Superstore. Sales from the single and album will go towards feeding schemes and a building project.
