Woman robbed at gunpoint in her YWP home

Robbers lock woman in her house.

Brazen house robbers informed a woman of their next hit before locking her inside her house when they had finished their looting on Tuesday, 1 April.

A Weaver Road, Yellowwood Park home owner was alone in her house when three armed men pounced on her. A man made his way into the kitchen through an open window and pointed a gun at her. Two more men armed with knives made their way into the house through the open front door. She was forced to hand over valuable items including jewellery, R400 in cash and two DVD players.

They moved her into the bedroom where they took clothing items and placed them in a bag which they had brought with them. They requested her cellphone, ATM card and PIN code. Once ransacked the house, they told her they would be returning to rob a nearby house and threatened to shoot her. They locked her inside the house and left the keys hanging in the door. The men fled in the direction of the railway line, which leads to Lamontville and Mobeni Heights.

Once the men had fled, the woman screamed and banged on the windows for help. A neighbour who was walking past heard her screams and came to her aid.

Anyone with information on the men, who are suspected to be in their early 20s, is requested to contact Montclair SAP on 031-469-8200.

Within the first two days of April, five house breakings were reported to Montclair SAP. Police appeal to the community to assist them by reporting suspicious people as well as those loitering. Residents are to take note of their clothing, direction they are headed in and other descriptive features.

Victims of crime are urged to help draw up identity kits to assist police in making arrests and linking criminals to other cases.
