‘Sell the land’ to avoid further decay

The eye-sore vacant land on Bushlands Road needs to be sold off according to ward 66 councillor, Dun Du Bois, in order to remove the problem.

THE bemoaned and neglected Bushlands Road vacant plot received some much-needed attention recently, but ward 66 councillor and War Room chairman, Duncan Du Bois believes a more permanent solution is necessary.

After a year of email conversations between the councillor and eThekwini Municipality officials, the land was cleared of discarded debris and the grass mowed. “However, that is only temporary relief. Soon the grass will grow tall again and dumping will take place,” said Du Bois.

“I would like that cycle to be avoided. The surest way to do so is to sell this site. Therefore, as champion of the War Room, I am asking the KZN Human Settlements Department to advertise the sale of this plot as soon as possible. It is an ideal development prospect, the market value of which is probably in the vicinity of R450,000.”

Du Bois hopes his request will be successful and that he will be able to report definitively on the matter at the next War Room meeting in April.
