The man was arrested on charges of dealing in narcotics and unlawful possession of an unlicensed firearm.

A SUSPECTED-drug dealer was arrested today, 11 March in his Wentworth home.

Following a tip, members of the Chatsworth cluster crime intelligence unit were monitoring the movements of a 39-year-old man in Wentworth, believed to be a drug dealer. When he entered his home, the unit moved in, with assistance from the Cavendish mobile team.

A search of the home revealed 1,336 mandrax tablets and 417 straws of heroin in the computer tower, along with a .38 special revolver.

The man was arrested on charges of dealing in narcotics and unlawful possession of an unlicensed firearm. The gun was sent for ballistics testing to determine if it has been used in any crimes. The man will appear in the Durban Magistrates Court soon.

Commending the work, KZN police commissioner Lieutenant Mmamonnye Ngobeni said: “These operations will assist in rooting out the drug trade and cleaning out the criminals who do not care about the future of our youth.”
