Montclair hijack leaves family shaken

Two women and a six-year-old boy were hijacked outside their Woodlands home on the corner of Mitford Place and Norwich Crescent on Thursday, 20 February.

The six-year-old boy was being dropped off by his grandmother at about 7.10pm after a karate lesson. The boy’s mother was outside to meet them, when two men, walking in opposite directions attacked them. They threw the women to the floor and forced the young boy out of the car. They sped off in the vehicle, which contained a handbag in the boot, containing personal belongings.

The young boy’s father, who asked to remain unnamed, said: “The men were unarmed so it could have been an opportunistic crime. My mother is very traumatised by the incident and has been booked off work for a week. I was told my son was calm throughout the whole ordeal, he went inside the house and watched TV. He has also been affected because while being dropped off by the school’s transport, he saw three men near the home and ran inside the house.”

The black Ford Fiesta, which has the word ‘charmng’ on the registration plate has not yet been recovered. If anyone sees the vehicle or has any information on its whereabouts, contact Montclair SAP on 031-469-8200.
