Nursing students partner with hygiene project

SAVE the Children KZN has partnered with second year UKZN nursing students in Wentworth for their Water, Sanitation, Health and Hygiene (Wash) programme.

There are currently 20 crèches from the Wentworth Crèche Forum (WCF) involved in the Wash programme. WCF members are enthusiastic about the partnership with UKZN, believing the relationship will be mutually beneficial, with students gaining practical experience at grassroots level, impacting on the health of the children. Wotking alongside, Wash practitioners, the students will learn about the programme and will be able to make recommendations to the local clinic and Department of Health based on their findings.

“We are delighted. Wash has grown beyond our wildest expectations and we are overwhelmed and humbled by all the partners who are keen to make a difference,” said programme officer, Gail Richards.
