No longer ‘proudly Bluff’

Can someone explain the logic in the verges being 'trimmed', but not cleaned up or swept afterwards?

EDITOR – I have been a resident of the Bluff for more than 30 years and never did I imagine that we would ever see it in this current state.

These photos cover a mere area of less than one kilometre, along Foreshore Drive. The rest of the Bluff looks the same, if not worse. It must be one of the filthiest suburbs in Durban at present.

Can someone explain the logic in the verges being ‘trimmed’, but not cleaned up or swept afterwards?

The pavements, as well as sections of the roads, are covered in rubbish. And this sorry sight is seen throughout the Bluff. Who is responsible for cleaning our streets and verges? And who is responsible for checking that the work is done?

The weeds next to the concrete bollards closest to the beach are at least half a metre high.

My suggestion is for all residents to take pictures and write their comments about ‘our filthy Bluff’.

How sad that we cannot use the saying ‘proudly Bluff’ any longer.
