Wentworth’s ‘golden voice’ silenced

“A GOLDEN voice has been silenced,” said Lorna Smith, mother of well-known Wentworth singer, Anthea Smith, who died on Thursday, 16 January.

Anthea was admitted to Wentworth Hospital on Monday, 13 January due to illness associated with diabetes, causing her to suffer cardiac and renal failure. She died three days later.

“She loved singing in church and was requested for many weddings and other events, which she did voluntarily, without charge. Hundreds of people have come to pay their respects,” said Lorna.

Her funeral was held on Saturday, 25 January, with people adorned in colourful clothing and flowers in their hair. “She wouldn’t have wanted people to be sad and dressed in black; she was a loving, vibrant and colourful woman.”
