Drug arrests in Montclair

MORE than 15 men have been arrested for drug possession and dealing in the Montclair SAP's policing area in the past three weeks.

MORE than 15 men have been arrested for drug possession and dealing in the Montclair SAP’s policing area in the past three weeks.

The men range between the ages of 18 and 32. Most of the arrests took place in Clairwood CBD, Bacus Road, Glanville Road, Alamein Avenue and Carolina Crescent. Three men who were arrested over the weekend of 18 and 19 January were in possession of dagga and heroine.

Montclair SAP have also reported an increase in drug related crimes, which often take the form of general theft. Residents are warned to ensure gates leading to their properties as well as garage doors are locked at all times. Garden equipment and furniture are to be removed from visible areas, as these are often stolen by opportunistic thieves.

Some of the drug dealers are suspected to be residents in the area as they are familiar with various roads, pathways and in turn use these as escape routes. Be on the look-out for groups of men, sometimes two or three in a group loitering around the area. Report any suspicious people to Crime Stop on 086-001-0111 or Montclair SAP on 031-462-8200. Take note of their clothing, physical attributes and the direction their headed in.

Police also arrested six people for drunk driving and one man for robbery over the weekend.
