Help Sanral ‘clean’ its database

FOLLOWING a complaint about an incorrect e-toll bill by the Bluff’s Cyril Govender, the South African National Roads Agency Limited (Sanral) urges all motorists to report all incidents to help clean up its database.

Bluff motorists ticked off at being tagged for e-tolls

Vusi Mona, Sanral’s general manager of communications, said there could be a number of reasons why Govender received an SMS notification of an outstanding e-toll bill, despite not travelling in the e-toll area. “This could be the result either of transfer of ownership not having been done or it could be a cloned vehicle.
It should be noted a vehicle owner is legally compelled in terms of the National Road Traffic Act of 1996 to have an address for service and the Act also requires the owner of the vehicle to inform the registering authority within 21 days if they change their address. Failure to do so is an offence in terms of the legislation,” said Mona.
He compels motorists to report incidents to allow Sanral to investigate. “Until the database used is 100% ‘clean’, we expect these incidents will recur.
If you receive a notification for an e-toll bill and have not used the Gauteng road network, call 0800-726-725.
