Kalind claims five distinctions

Yellowwood Park resident, Kalind Ramnarayan (17), scooped the dux award at St Henry's Marist College, after achieving five distinctions with an aggregate of 86% in the Independent Examination Board (IEB) exams.

The former Yellowwood Park Primary School pupil placed in the top 1% in mathematics and physical science with 97% and 95% respectively. “I was pleased when I received my results. I am going to study actuarial science or medicine at the University of Cape Town this year,” said Kalind.

His mantra, ‘omnia vincite’ which means ‘conquer all difficulties’ helped him overcome all the challenges he faced.

Even though he is glad to have finished school, he will miss living at home and receiving assistance from the teachers. He thanks his family and teachers for their support and guidance throughout his schooling career. He spent his holidays relaxing with friends and family and playing soccer.
