Arrests follow Clairwood sting operation

Twelve people were arrested in an operation involving Montclair SAP, Metro Police, the business licences unit, water and fire departments on Tuesday, 22 October.

The operation took place in Sigamoney Road, Clairwood after police received information of illegal immigrants residing in a building. They were suspected to be dealing in drugs, involved in house breakings and in possession of stolen property. About 30 operation members searched about 100 people, including an extensive search of the premises.

Eleven people were arrested for being in the country illegally while another was arrested and charged with possession of drugs. The Malawi and Zimbabwe nationals have appeared in court and were remanded at Westville prison pending deportation.

Montclair SAP have confirmed this is an ongoing operation and anyone with information can call W/O Malusi Ndlovu at the station on 031-469-8200.
