Bushlands drug bust nets cocaine, ecstasy and heroin

BRIGHTON Beach SAP crime prevention officers arrested two men for the possession of a large quantity of drugs in Bushlands on 6 September.

At about 7pm, the team led by Warrant Officer JJ Sonnekus was watching an apartment in Bushlands suspected to house drug traffickers. When the front door of the building opened the team entered, where they arrested a 21-year-old in possession of heroin.

The officers asked to see the owner of the apartment, a 25-year-old man. In his presence they searched the apartment and seized 30 sealed sachets of cocaine, 83 ecstasy tablets, four glass testosterone containers and a handheld digital scale. The owner was charged with three counts of being in possession of a list of banned substances.

The two men appeared in the Durban Court on Monday, 9 September and were remanded into police custody.

Brighton Beach SAP management welcomes these arrests, as substance dependency is increasing. Community members are urged to report drug peddling in their area to Crime Stop on 08600-1011.
