Le Roux van Zyl chosen for SA Bokkie team

BLUFF rugby player and grade 11 Durban High School pupil, Le Roux van Zyl (18) has been chosen to scrum off for the Afrikaner Volkseie Sport (AVS) SA Bokkie team.

Le Roux was chosen for the national team at the Afrikaner Volkseie sport week on 2 to 6 July in Kroonstad. The Bokkies will tour Russia during the September holidays. Excited at his selection into the team, he was anxious to get the ball rolling and start his preparations.

A rugby player from the age of five, his sole passion is the game and he aspires to play for an international club. His accomplishments include playing in the Grand Chomo week, being selected for the AVS Natal team and now playing for the Bokkies. He is a versatile player, being able to take on flyhalf, centre and full back positions.

“I was over the moon when I found out I was selected for the team. I thank the selectors for choosing me and I will do my best for the team,” said Le Roux. His parents have nothing but praise for him, saying his hard work is paying off.

The cost of the tour to Russia is R26,900, with R5,000 already raised from raffles including a digital camera as a prize. The family seeks assistance to raise the balance of the costs. If you would like to lend a hand, call Liza van Zyl on 079-627 5140.
