Seniors club knits beanies for Seafarers

ALICE Fabian opened the Montclair Seniors Club meeting with devotions, with the thought in mind that members were all gathered together from many congregations in the community.

Chairman Noami McDivett was wished well on her return to Oxford to further her studies.

The club was sorry to see a number of members were unwell. It hoped to see them again at the next meeting. Cecilia Sharrett was wished well on her trip to the UK in August and September. Members want to hear all about it on her return.

Many members celebrated birthdays this month and were wished well. Visitor Lynette Fayers was welcomed and Veronica Singh and Yvonne Potgieter were welcomed back from their extended holidays.

Members who were knitting beanies for the Seafarers were reminded that these need to be handed in at the next meeting, to be ready for distribution.

Angela, Isobel and Colin had some good jokes to tell. After the competition draw, Angela appealed for prizes, particularly the edible type. After a delicious tea, thanks again to the hardworking tea members, it was found that there was an extra cake available and this was passed on to Veronica.

Then on with the great entertainment provided by the Stainbank WI choir, who once again sang their hearts out with many tunes from Oscar-winning films and the stories behind them. Thanks to the choir.

The club misses many of its members and hopes to see all soon. If possible, take along a friend to the next meeting on Thursday, 8 August at the Montclair Methodist Church hall at 9am for 9.30am.
