Natalia gardeners prep for plant sale

The club looks forward to seeing all members and anyone interested in visiting or joining on the second Thursday of each month.

NATALIA Garden Club’s president welcomed all members and visitors from TAFTA Park in Seaview.

After opening with a prayer, Karolina wished all the women present a happy Women’s Day.

Apologies were read out and the treasurer mentioned that the club’s finances have improved since door fees were increased to keep up with inflation. In matters arising, members were reminded of the plant sale this month. Seedlings, plants in containers, cuttings wrapped in wet newspaper or in plastic packets or bags will be appreciated for the plant sale which will begin at 9am.

Kamy and Sharon du Plessis were wished well for their birthdays in August. The door prize was won by Liz Clements, raffle was won by Bev Beard and the 100 club by Lettie van Jaarsveld. Karolina enlightened members with information on the Alokasia plant. She also thanked Yusimi Zayas for donating peanut butter and jam for the Bluff School’s Sandwich Ministry.

Speaker Phillip Swart gave an interesting demonstration on miniature gardens made with moss. Club members will meet on Thursday, 13 September at the Pigeon Club in Tara Road at 9.30am after the plant sale. The decorative competition topic is entitled bright and sunny and the cultural competition will be a yellow flower. The other competition categories are best bloom or spray, best orchid from my garden and best pot plant.

The following members are reminded to bring snacks for tea time: Veronica Crowie, Eryl Devine, Joey Doby, Mavis Dunn, Daphne du Plessis, Sharon du Plessis and Lynne Gillman. Speaker Andre Steenkamp will give a talk entitled ‘the world in your garden’.
