THREE men were arrested in Clairwood on Thursday, 26 July in connection with the hijacking of a container truck which contained goods worth R1.5-million.
Members from the Rapid Rail Police Unit from Reunion were conducting crime prevention duties when they received information about a hijacked truck in the Clairwood area.
Police worked together with a tracking company and tracked the hijacked vehicle to Clairwood. The truck was found while three men, suspected to be the hijackers, were transferring the trailer and its contents to another truck.

The container was still sealed and contained goods worth more than R1.5 million. The three men were arrested for possession of suspected stolen property.
The delivery truck which was en route from Swaziland to Hammarsdale was hijacked after the driver picked up two hitch-hikers. While travelling on the N2 near Salt Rock, one of the hitch-hikers asked to be dropped off.
When the driver stopped the truck to let him out, three men produced a firearm, which they pointed at him. The driver fled in fear for his life, leaving behind the truck which the hijackers took.
The matter was reported to Umhlali police.
The men, aged between 30 and 39, will be charged for possession of stolen property in court soon.
