Wentworth Arts and Culture Organisation hosts fundraiser

The fundraiser would prove to be a great corporate social investment

A FUNDRAISER showcasing the work of non-profit organisation, Wentworth Arts and Culture Organisation (WACO) will be held on Friday, 22 June at Fairvale High School at 6.30pm.
For the past 11 years, WACO has done exemplary work with the disadvantaged youth from the South Durban Basin communities with their artistic and educational programme, namely the dance project called Dance Movement.
This has given the youth the platform to explore dance and they have received skills development, training, bursaries, performances and international exposure with some representing South Africa in the US and the UK.
The fundraiser would prove to be a great corporate social investment initiative for businesses interested in investing in WACO’s projects.
“I believe arts and culture is such an important part in community, social and youth development, and this is what all our art activities include when we do our projects that is beneficial to adding value and making life better for the community,” said Director Jarryd Watson. “The arts and culture sector in South Africa is poorly supported hence our appeal to the neighbouring corporates to invest and uplift and promote this good service and worthy cause,” he added.

The night will include catering for businesses that purchase a VIP table and there will be tons of performance from the youth, disabled and popular elderly senior citizen group Malibongwe.
Wheelchair dancers who will perform on the night are Michelle Rosehall and Geoff Cafun, who have been dancing with Dance Movement for three years. They take classes in contemporary and hip hop dancing every Thursday. Watson thanked Gantrans, Nor Marine and Mandlethu Civils for their keen interest and investment in the WACO projects.
The public is urged to support the event. Any other businesses interested in investing in the CSI initiative may call 082-683-9665.
