Montclair SAPS members lauded for exemplary police work

The Montclair officers were lauded for their commitment and dedication in arresting suspects for various crimes

MONTCLAIR police members were awarded for their outstanding contributions in the fight against crime including successful arrests, convictions and investigative skills.
eThekwini Inner South cluster commander, General Chirwa made the awards at a special cluster incentive on 2 May.
Sergeant Alex Maphumulo was commended for outstanding services rendered as part of a team who arrested a suspect and recovered a firearm belonging to a member who was fatally shot during a shoot-out.

Detective Warrant Officer Erugubathy ‘Rico’ Naidoo was commended for outstanding service and investigative skills. His initiative and perseverance to see an investigation through to its completion resulted in an arrested murder suspect being convicted and subsequently sentenced to a total of 40 years’ imprisonment.
Sgt Alex Maphumulo, Col Rian Vorster, W/O Rico Naidoo, Capt Tees Pillay, W/O Tiger Ramsamy and Const Sobongiseni Mthembu were part of a task team which rendered outstanding service. They were lauded for their commitment and dedication in arresting suspects wanted for murder, theft of motor vehicle and theft of cash. This resulted in the conviction of one man who was sentenced to a life term and seven years’ imprisonment.
