Armed robbery at cellphone store

They were seen leaving in a red Mini Cooper and silver grey Hyundai Accent.

A cellphone shop in Montclair Mall was ransacked yesterday, Wednesday 3 January when eight men entered the business and produced firearms, demanding the location of the safe.

When they found out there was no safe,  the gunmen pushed the employees into the back office while they raided the store of cash, cellphones from the display cabinet and a laptop. They were seen leaving in a red Mini Cooper and silver grey Hyundai Accent.

“CCTV footage is available but the decoder cords were ripped by the suspects. The owner will arrange for IT specialist to reinstall and download footage,” said Montclair SAPS communication officer, Captain Dereck Vijiam.
