Bluff armed robbers steal more than R20000 in weekend looting spree

A criminal weekend spree saw robbers walk away with more than R20,000

ARMED gangs made off with more than R20,000 after a weekend crime spree on the Bluff which targeted homes and businesses.
Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said in the early hours of Saturday morning, 17 December two armed robbers entered a business premises on the Bluff and robbed the manager of cash and other valuables.
“The manager was about to close the business when the two men walked in and forced him to open the safe. They fled with more than R20 000 in cash, a computer, cellphones, keys and other valuables,” Mathios said.

On Sunday, 18 December at about 7.25pm a family was held at gunpoint in their Dunville Road, Bluff home by four robbers. “They walked in through the front door, which had been left open. They robbed the family of a laptop and a safe containing jewellery and cash before fleeing in a silver-grey BMW. No injuries were reported,” said Mathios. Brighton Beach SAPS attended both crime scenes.

He said a gang of seven armed robbers also held up staff at a business premises in South Coast Road in Rossburgh at around 4pm on Friday. “The business was about to close for the day when the armed men held them up and robbed them of cash,” Mathios said.
A case was opened at Umbilo SAPS.
