Make a bee motel to help mobilise these vital insects

Have you ever wondered what would happen if bees depopulate or go extinct?
They are critical pollinators, which means they pollinate 70 of the around 100 crop species that feed 90% of the world.
Honey bees are responsible for $30 billion a year in crops. That’s only the start. We may lose all the plants that bees pollinate, all of the animals that eat those plants and so on, up the food chain. Habitat loss, pesticides and climate change are causing a decline in population of bees.
If bees go extinct so do we, so will the ecosystem which includes every lifeform – scary!
So how can we protect them? Here’s how:
YOU WILL NEED:
A big/small box or old lunch tin (if box is enclosed- cut one side open) or even a canister.
As many hollow sticks as possible
A string to hang the motel
All you need to do is fill the box or lunch tin with as many hollow sticks as possible to fit the size of the box or lunch tin. Tie it onto a tree, preferably near flowers in your garden, as tightly as possible.
