UPDATE: Bluff police confirm man’s beachside suicide

He had sustained a gunshot wound to the head

Brighton Beach police have confirmed the suicide death of a man in his 30s at Foreshore Drive today.

Police received a call about the shooting at about 10.30am.

The police officer who responded found a vehicle parked in a parking bay facing the ocean. On further inspection, the police officer found the boot of the vehicle open, with a man found seated on the boot-edge rear bumper,  leaning backwards. He had sustained a gunshot wound to the head. A firearm was found lying between his legs.

The man age 30, from Umbilo was declared deceased by paramedics at the scene.

An inquest has been opened for investigation by Brighton Beach detectives.
