US scholarships up for grabs at Wentworth’s Blue Roof centre

Twelve finalists will be selected to continue for the youth leadership programme which starts on 15 January.

Zoe-Life is offering 12 scholarships for out-of-school youth to participate in an one-year leadership programme to become change makers and commit to build a new nation.

The programme which will be held at the Blue Roof campus in Wentworth 178 Austerville Drive (behind the Engen Garage) is sponsored by the American government through the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) community grant.
Each scholarship is valued at R30,000. The course will focus on personal development, strengths and career guidance, community leadership around youth initiatives and entrepreneurial skills. Successful applicants will be provided with transport to and and from campus.

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be between 18 and 24-years-old (ID proof is required); have a good command of English; be able to commit full time from December to November 2018; must be committed to serve their community and nation; have a parent or family member who is willing to commit to attending three workshops and must have good character.
All applications must be submitted either by hand or email by Friday, 10 November. If your application for round one is successful, you will need to be available to attend an orientation evening with your parent or caregiver on Thursday, 23 November at 6pm.
Round one applicants will attend a one week of campus communication knock out from 4 to 7 December. Twelve finalists will be selected to continue for the youth leadership programme which starts on 15 January.
