Women wing it to claim chicken fun day spoils at Woodlands BC

A GAME of men’s drawn pairs was played at Woodlands Bowling Club between Harold Dix and Gavin Conlon and Tom Cloete and Bill Hewer, with Tom and Bill emerging as the victors.

On Sunday, 24 September the shirts and skirts was played, with Norman Moore and Gloria Rice coming in first overall on 4+22 and Rina Harper and Erick Coetzee taking second overall on 4+18.

Second session winners were Chris Klopper and Robbie Carr on 2+11.

Robbie Carr snatched the R40 with Norman Moore getting the dregs of R20 on the money board. David Lloyd won the meat raffle.

On Saturday, 30 September the club held a ‘chicken fun day’ with the chickens going to Rina Harper and Bridgette Conlon coming in first place and Norman Moore and David Lloyd second. Michael Hewer and Liam Wiliams were closest to the jack. Thank you to all Woodlands members for supplying snacks.

Sunday, 1 October saw the Port Natal fours being played with Rina Harper, Gloria Rice, Linda Hewer and Lynn Carlyle playing at Durban. Unfortunately they lost both morning games and didn’t have to play the afternoon game. Tom Cloete, Bill Hewer, Eric Coetzee and Jason Hewer played at Wanderers and won two out of the three games and Norman Moore, Andy Cloete, David Lloyd and Eric Coetzee played at Hillary and lost all their games. Better luck next year, everyone.

Wednesday, 4 October sees the any pairs competition take place. To enter a team, call Linda Hewer on 082-724-6575 and on Thursday, 5 October it’s the casual fours breakfast. To enter a team, contact Andy Cloete on 083-987-9611.

On Friday night the main club meat draw was won by Glen de Wildt, Wayne Locke and Glen Morris. The club snowball was not won as V Mostert was not there.

Woodlands Bowling Club’s AGM is on Wednesday, 25 October in the main hall. Music on Friday nights has been a great success. On Sunday, 15 October there will be a braai at noon with music at 1pm. The pool competition winner is Chris van Zyl and the runner-up is Bucs Swanepoel.
