Quench your thirst with your own soda pop

Get creative with this delicious soda recipe.

With the days getting warmer, the craving to quench your thirst with something sweet and icy is getting stronger.  It’s easy enough to grab a bottle of coke from the store, but where is the fun in that.

Get creative and make your own soda pop that will surely be a hit with your  family and friends.

This recipe from sheknows.com is quick and simple:

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup fresh fruit juice or concentrated fruit juice (the more concentrated the juice, the more intense the final flavour).
  1. Combine the ingredients in a heavy saucepan. Bring to a boil, then turn down the heat and let simmer until the mixture is reduced by half. (To intensify the flavour, you can add a dash of an appropriately flavoured extract).
  2. Store the finished syrup in a squeeze bottle in the refrigerator for instant access.
  3. To make homemade soda, simply add syrup to a glass of ice and top off with seltzer water or club soda.
