Church transfers skills to unemployed in Wentworth

In helping one person, we are helping a whole family

A COMMUNITY based church has given unemployed Wentworth people the opportunity to gain important skills and equip them for future job prospects.

Bethel Fellowship Assemblies of God, under the wing of Pastor Danny Chetty, has always been community-orientated by offering free counselling for drug abuse and marriage and addressing unemployment in the area.

On Wednesday, 19 July in partnership with Cress Safety Consulting and D&E Safety and Training Services, Bethel Fellowship held a training programme which trained and educated about 70 people of all ages who were willing to learn. “We want to give them the tools to better themselves by improving their skills and making them employable. In helping one person, we are helping a whole family. The vision of the church is to be the change needed in this community,” said Pastor Chetty.

The key to success is education as the 70 people have learned in the training programme.

Those who enrolled for the programme will be certified and MERSETA accredited. “The community members are learning first aid, firefighting and safety.”
