Response officer bags gang of metal thieves in Mobeni

The suspects were handed over to Montclair SAPS.

A GANG of metal thieves was stopped in their tracks by an armed response officer on Monday, 17 July in Mobeni.

The seven men were singlehandedly arrested by the from Blue Security officer who responded to a call about a business robbery.

Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said nine suspects had accosted security guards on the South Coast Road property before forcing their way inside to steal metal from the site. The incident occurred at around 11.50am.

“Our officer responded to the scene and immediately called for backup when he realised he was outnumbered. Undeterred by the sheer size of the gang, he drew his firearm and managed to apprehend seven of the men,” Mathios said.

“Two criminals who had managed to flee the scene by jumping over the fence with stolen metal in their possession, were later found running in South Coast Road and were arrested by the SAPS flying squad,” He said.

The suspects were handed over to Montclair SAPS.
