Spice up your Weet-Bix with these recipes

Have fun with Weet-Bix by trying these easy recipes.

There is no household in South Africa that doesn’t have a box or two of Weet-Bix.  It is the staple breakfast cereal, high in fibre and packed with 97 per cent whole grains.

Although delicious and healthy, the breakfast cereal can become boring to eat. But there are other ways to spice it up.

Weet-Bix smoothie:

  • 1 cup So Good Lite soy milk
  • 1 Gluten free Weet-Bix
  • 1 banana, chopped
  • ½ cup frozen berries
  1. Place all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Pour into serving glasses.

 

If your sweet tooth is craving some chocolate. Try your hand at the Weet-Bix brownies:

  • 180g butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1 cup dessicated coconut
  • 3 Weet-Bix, crushed
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa

Preheat oven to 180 C.  Melt butter and add vanilla.

Combine dry ingredients together in a bowl, pour in butter and mix well.
Press mixture into a lined slice pan and bake at 180 C for 15-20 minutes until firm.
Allow to cool and then ice with chocolate icing and sprinkle with coconut or sprinkles.  Once icing is cool then cut into squares and store in an airtight container.
