Military group to host AGM
The main talk, which will be presented by the outgoing chairman, Roy Bowman is entitled 'The Battle off Samar'
THE KZN branch of the South African Military History Society holds its AGM as part of its scheduled monthly meeting on Thursday, 13 April.
The schedule has been slightly altered to cater for the AGM and will consist of a video entitled ‘D Day minus 1’, portraying the US 82nd Airborne, 101st Airborne and Glider Borne troops landing in Normandy on the night of 5 and 6 June 1944.
The main talk, which will be presented by the outgoing chairman, Roy Bowman is entitled ‘The Battle off Samar’ dealing with a little-known engagement between the main Japanese battle fleet and six destroyers guarding a group of Escort aircraft carriers, off the Philippines on 25 October 1944.
The venue is the Murray Lecture Theatre, civil engineering building on the Howard College campus, UKZ at 7pm for 7.30pm.
