Gardeners prepare to mark Natalia’s 32nd birthday

Keen gardener Nora Brown will give some tips on 'know your plant'.

NATALIA Garden Club holds its next meeting on Thursday, 13 April at the Pigeon Club, Tara Road on the Bluff.

This month the club celebrates its 32nd birthday.

Marie Pistorius will cut the birthday cake to be made by Nora Brown.

Members have been asked to bring plants for the plant sale. Keen gardener Nora Brown will give some tips on ‘know your plant’.

Plant competition topics are

  • Decorative: An Easter arrangement;
  • cultural: A hibiscus flower.
  • The other usual competitions are best bloom or spray/orchid/pot plant/ from my garden.

Denese Koch will give a talk on ‘passion and gardens’. The club encourages new members to join in for an inspiring morning to learn more about plants and to beautify their gardens and the environment.

March competition results were as follows:

Decorative –

  • Karolina Kotze 7;
  • Jeanne Buitendag 6;
  • Lettie van Jaarsveld 5.

Cultural –

  • Eryl Devine and Daphne du Plessis 10;
  • Karolina Kotze 91/2;

Best bloom –

  • Jeanne Buitendag, Monica Auguste, Yusimi Zayas and Karolina Kotze 10,
  • Daphne du Plessis 91/2.

Best orchid –

  • Yusimi Zayas and Lettie van Jaarsveld 10.

From my garden –

  • Yusimi Zayas, Karolina Kotze and Daphne du Plessis 10;
  • Jeane Buitendag and Alma Botha 9.

Best pot plant –

  • Monica Auguse and Jeanne Buitendag 10;
  • Karolina Kotze and Yusimi Zayas 91/2.

We congratulate all members who take part in the plant competitions.

Members on tea duty are Charlotte Fuller, Russell Jones, Jeanette Nienaber, Moira Page, Marie Pistorius, June Richards and Lyn Gradwell.

The club excursion to Illovo Nursery will take place on 4 May.

The monthly meeting is held on the second Thursday of the month from 9.30am to about 11am.

Visitors and new members are welcome.
