BotSoc presents ‘Tannie Rewolwer’

The presentation takes place at Durban Botanic Gardens Visitors Centre in John Zikhali Road (formerly Sydenham Road).

THE Botanical Society of South Africa KZN coastal branch presents ‘Tannie Rewolwer’ and the Great Library, an illustrated presentation by Dr Hugh Glen on Monday, 24 April at 6pm..

Mary Gunn was the founding librarian of the then Division of Botany, and the library she started in Pretoria is now named after her.

The presentation will look at her origins, life and achievements, and celebrate her work in building up the greatest botanical library in Africa, which turned 100-years-old last year. Special attention is paid to her successes in finding rare and beautiful treasures for this library. Dr Glen is a retired SANBI botanist with an interest in history.

All are welcome. The presentation takes place at Durban Botanic Gardens Visitors Centre in John Zikhali Road (formerly Sydenham Road).

The entrance fee includes refreshments: R40 for members of BotSoc and Friends of Durban Botanic Gardens and R60 for non-members; students with cards R30. Pay at the door.
