The National Sea Rescue Institute’s (NSRI) duty crew towed a yacht bound for Durban into the harbour on Wednesday, 15 March.
At about 9.15am, the Durban duty crew launched the sea rescue craft Eikos Rescuer II to rendezvous with 44 foot yacht Elin, which was sailing from Cape Town to Durban.
The yacht was adrift after suffering motor mechanical failure, with three male crew onboard. They required assistance into the Port of Durban.
“We met them three nautical miles from port and we towed their yacht into the Port of Durban without incident and no further assistance was required,” said Lorenzo Taverna, NSRI Durban duty coxswain.
