Home-made gun, ammo lands man behind bars

They spotted the police vehicle and started walking faster

TWO men were caught by the tail when a Montclair SAPS officer found them hiding in a bush on Blamey Road, Montclair on Friday, 25 November.

The officer was performing his duties when he saw two suspicious men walking along Blamey Road towards Clairwood.

Not long after that, they spotted the police vehicle and started walking faster, before disappearing behind a bush.
The officer stopped the car and jumped out near the bush where he saw the two men hiding.
“He demanded them to come out of hiding and identified himself as an officer. They came out with their hands up,” said Montclair SAPS spokesman, Cpt Dereck Vijiam. The officer searched them and found a home-made firearm with ammunition on one of the men. The officer arrested the man for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
