[VIDEO] Vocal kickoff of 16 days campaign

TRUMPETS sounded and feet stomped as Ningizimu Special School heralded the start of its 16 Days of Activism campaign on Friday, 26 November.

Together with Montclair SAPS, ward 64 councillor, Gavin Hegter and other participants, the school put on a spectacle while declaring they will fight against the abuse of women and children.

The uMthwalume brass band, Mowat Park drummies, Ningizimu Girl Guides, Scouts and trail blazers and Montclair police were led by a duo of bikers from the school up into Kenyon Howden Road and back into the school yard.

Pupils held signs while music played and batons were twirled. It was a sight to behold, as motorists hooted their agreement to fight against violence.

Following the procession, speeches were given and entertainment was provided by the various groups.

The 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children is an awareness campaign aimed at eliminating violence and educating people. It runs from 25 November to 10 December annually.
