Criminals stab man for cellphone

Community members were alerted of the theft and gave chase

A MAN was stabbed during a robbery on Friday, 18 November in Wingate Road, Montclair.

At about 8pm the victim and his girlfriend were walking on the road when two men approached them. One grabbed the man by the shirt and pushed him back while the other lunged forward and stabbed him in the shoulder twice and shoved him to the ground.

The victim tried to fight back but the armed man stabbed him again in the hip.

He blocked another attack as the robber tried to stab his neck. “The other robber then grabbed the injured mans cellphone and both robbers ran away. Community members were alerted of the theft and gave chase,” said Montclair SAPS communication officer, Cpt Dereck Vijiam.

Montclair SAPS later apprehended the criminal duo in Halifax Road. The cellphone was recovered and returned to the owner’, who is recovering.
