Carnival brings 21-day drug focus to a close

MONTCLAIR CPF's 21-day drug awareness campaign ended off with a big bang with a carnival on Saturday, 27 July at Montclair sports fields.

Community members came out in their numbers to support the event, labelled as one as the biggest events to have hit the Montwood area. Over 1,000 people joined in the festivities which included live performances and a craft market and saw 200 community members lending a hand.

Following from the day’s success, a Narcotics Anonymous group is being established in the area which will meet at Montclair Recreational hall at 7.30pm every Thursday. A women’s support group has also taken root and will meet at 2 Anleno Road, Montclair every Wednesday at 7pm. All community members are welcome.

“The campaign was a great success. We are grateful to all the community members who participated in the carnival, our sponsors and all the volunteers,” said CPF cahirman, Gavin Hegter.

The CPF thanks all who contributed to the success of the event. From the exhibitors and stall holders to the sponsors and the various displays your contribution was what made this event such a great success. The CPF would like to extend a special thanks to the Montwood Ratepayers association for the use of the hall during the campaign and opening it up for the use of the Narcotics Anonymous meetings.
