Exploding canisters alarms Bluff as illegal dwellers’ homesteads cleared

The operation is ongoing

BLUFFITES were alarmed this morning when explosions were heard emanating from the bushes along Garcin Place, followed by plumes of black smoke.

Shortly after 10am this morning, 9 September multiple explosions were heard in the vicinity of the cricket grounds of the Bluff.

These were caused by canisters in illegal dwelling exploding as the Land Invasion Unit worked to clear the bushes.

The unit, accompanied by ward 66 councillor, JP Prinsloo and the Bluff Alliance’s Andy Rossell were operating in the area to clear the bushland of illegal dwellings.

The operation is ongoing and they are moving in a southerly direction.
