Unlicensed guns, dagga seized from Reiger Road flat

31-year-old man remanded in custody until next court appearance on 30 August

A 31-year-old man appeared in Durban Magistrates’ Court on 18 August on charges of possession of unlicensed firearms, ammunition and dagga and was remanded in custody until 30 August.

This follows an operation conducted by Wentworth police on 17 August, when they acted on intelligence-driven information. They proceeded to a Reiger Road flat in Wentworth, and on searching it, they recovered  two unlicensed pistols with 31 live rounds of ammunition. Loose dagga weighing 115,7 grams was also seized from the suspect. The street value of the recovered dagga is R1,500.

The recovered firearms will be taken to ballistics to ascertain if were used in the commission of any crimes.
