Storms fail to dampen YWPEWI’s plans

The treasurer gave the finance report and due to the great success of the sales table every month we were able to make donations to charities in the area.

UNFORTUNATELY, due to the recent torrential downpour, it was necessary to cancel the usual Yellowwood Park Evening Women’s Institute (YWPEWI) Monday evening meeting as the area was waterlogged.

President Sharon Quail came to the rescue and the meeting was held on the Sunday afternoon, which was perfect. She opened the meeting with the Mary Stewart Collect and asked that members think about the family of Tish Larsen who was secretary of the institute many years ago.

Members also gave their thoughts to Dot Montchioo and Cindy and they hope both get better soon.

The treasurer gave the finance report and due to the great success of the sales table every month, YWPEWI was able to make donations to charities in the area. The secretary then read out the thank you letters from CHOC, to whom the WI had donated many beanies and mittens for the children and also a note from Evelyn House for the cash donation. As always many thanks to the volunteers who do Botanic Gardens every month and also Meals on Wheels.

The date to diarise is 29 August when the WI will be celebrating its birthday with a starstudded evening. Members must get out all their party clothes and come ready for this great occasion. Take along some of your friends.

It was then over to Jean Ball with the assistance of Gerda Viljoen to attempt to teach some of the members how to crochet. Some members were really good but others unfortunately not so good. Thank you as always to the members who continually crochet, knit and sew for needy folk in the area There will be no competitions next month.
