Bushlands WI prepares for 51st birthday meeting

There was an informative round robin and Nora read out some funny jokes.

BUSHLANDS Women’s Institute (BWI) president Nora Brown welcomed all to the July meeting, particularly visitor J Johnson.

The June meeting had been cancelled due to the absence of many, due to illness and other problems.

The Mary Stewart Collect was recited. Daphne de Villiers was welcomed back after the attack of a particularly virulent form of flu, Angela wasn’t well and Lyn Rudolph is very ill. They were all wished a speedy recovery. Hazel Caldwell and Marie Brown are overseas.

There was an informative round robin and Nora read out some funny jokes. Ex-member Hazel Lochner was wished a happy birthday for 2 July. The raffle prizes were won by Y Lane and D du Plessis.

The competitions entries were judged by Kay McKee as follows:

  • Craft: First Marlene Jones 70.
  • Agri and horti: First M Jones 80.
  • Merit: First N Brown 80.

Members were reminded that next month is the 51st birthday which will be celebrated at Spur and therefore there will be no meeting on 1 August.

The meeting closed at 3.45pm with the saying of the WI prayer.
