Lessons in conflict for YWPWI

Our very enthusiastic members have been very busy this month knitting beanie's, bed socks, knee rugs for the needy in the area.

THE usual happy evening meeting was opened by Yellowwood Park Women’s Institute (YWPWI) president Sharon Quail, who read the Mary Stewart Collect and asked all members and visitors to keep Dol Montocchio, Tish Larson and Noleen in their prayers and thoughts and to advise her of any other members that need assistance.

Secretary Marsha Hart read out the previous minutes and thank you notes from Juanita of Emergency Kennels and from the Open Air School, YWPWI is assisting.

The treasurer confirmed that all was well with the WI finances.

Speaker for the evening was Colin Vermaak who always has the most interesting items to talk about. His topis was ‘Conflict, how does it affect you?’. He put members into categories of wise old owls, sharks or runners. This was a most stimulating and interesting talk. Just before tea, prospective ward councillor, Gavin Hegter gave a short talk on the procedure on voting day and how he could assist and how to obtain special votes.

Thank you to YWPWI’s enthusiastic tea members and of course to the ever-faithful members who do Botanic Gardens duty and Meals on Meals every month. Vanessa Wilesmith gave all the news about everyone’s grandchildren who seem to be doing well in the sporting fields.

Best wishes to Bev Holthauzen who is off to Canada for a few months.
