Driver trapped in head-on car wreck

FOUR people were injured and one was left in serious condition when the vehicle they were travelling in collided head-on with another car on Saturday, 4 June, on Umhlatazana Road in Clairwood.

Rescue Care paramedics arrived at the crash after 6pm and found one of the drivers was entrapped in the wreckage of the car. The Durban fire department was called in to cut him free with the jaws of life. Once freed the driver was transported to a nearby hospital. The three occupants of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries and were also taken to hospital. Cause of the collision will be investigated by police.
